Shake Out

Today it is the big Shake Out.  As a school, we had a practice about what to do in an earthquake.  We all got under a desk until the pretend shaking had stopped, and when it was safe, we went out to the field.

Bags of Hope

This term, for our art project, we were working on Bags of Hope for the Cancer Society.  We were able to choose from four designs and then select a quote to put on it.  Here is our final work.  We all really enjoyed doing it and we wanted to show our families but they had to be given away.  Here is a short video showing our creations.

Week 4 – Enviro Schools

During this week we have been working on 2 activities.  The first activity was we had to make a rubbish bin and then collect all our rubbish for a whole day.  We did this and we were surprised that some people collected lots of rubbish and some people didn’t have much at all.  We think we will need to do this activity again to see if this changes.

The next day, we went out to see how Papatuanuku handles rubbish. We found that all nature breaks down and gets composted.  We checked how warm the leaves were when we dug down and also checked for insects and things to see how things were breaking down.

We found many insects, and that all the leaves were breaking down to form compost.

Life Education Visit

We have been lucky to have Harold and Kelly at school  for the last few days.  We have been learning about bucket filing and bucket dipping.  We have learnt about things that we can do to fill people’s buckets and make them feel good and this makes us feel good.

We had to fill up two buckets or take from a bucket depending on what the action was.

On our second day, we did an activity that was called Monster, Mouse and Me.  We discussed what monster and mouse behaviour is and then what would be a best me.  Best me behaviour is help people, showing respect, and saying nice words.  We then had to put them into categories.

We had an awesome time with Harlod and Kelly in the Life Education classroom.  We look forward to seeing you next year.

Colour Poem – Etera

We had to plan and write a poem about a colour.  I chose black because it is my favourite colour.  I had to write my sentences and record my poem.  My favourite part was reading the sentences onto Canva.  Recording was hard because the little picture of me was in the way of the words.

Colour Poem – Lincoln

I had to choose a colour and I chose black because there are so many things that are black.  I have a little forest with blackberries so that is where I got those sentences from.  The hardest part was writing my sentences in my Google Doc.  Putting the pictures in was easy.  My favourite part to do was using copying and pasting the sentences into Canva.
